Karnali Chief Minister Yamlal Kandel has secured the vote of confidence from the provincial assembly on Monday afternoon.
This is Kandel’s second floor test in four months of assuming the office. He had previously secured the trust vote after forming a government in coalition with the CPN (Maoist Centre).
He went for a floor test for the second time as the parties changed the coalition partners last month. Following the formation of the alliance between the Congress and the UML at the federal level, similar coalitions have been formed in provinces as well.
In the 40-member provincial assembly, Chief Minister Kandel secured 23 votes. He got the mandates from 9 lawmakers from CPN-UML, 13 from Nepali Congress and from one independent member. Fourteen lawmakers voted against him.
